Don’t you hate when you find a planner printable you absolutely love but it’s not available in your planner size? I know I do! Here’s the easiest way for you to resize printables to fit your planner. There are other methods of doing this…this is what works best for me.
Print a custom size percentage
To print other sizes, you can use the “custom scale” setting on your printer. When trimming, be sure to save enough room in your margins for binding!
For single page printables, use this simple formula to find out the percentage:
desired page width / actual printable size width = answer
answer x 100 = %
For example, using the width from letter size to a mini happy planner size:
width of mini happy planner / width of letter size printable = answer
answer x 100 = %4.62 in /8.5 in = 0.54
0.54 x 100 = 54
54%
When printing, input the percentage (54%) in the “custom scale” area.
For double page printables (traveler’s notebooks or other printables that are folded as a booklet), use this formula to find out the percentage:
(desired page width when folded x 2) / actual printable size length = answer
answer x 100 = %
For example, using the length from letter size to a standard tn size:
(width of standard tn when folded x 2) / length of letter size printable = answer
answer x 100 = % used to scale when resizing(4.33 x 2) in / 8.5 in = 0.79
0.79 x 100 = 79
79%
When printing, input the percentage (79%) in the “custom scale” area. Remember to always print double page printables in landscape!
Keep in mind, resized printables will not be a perfect fit. There will be some added white space and, in some cases, you may lose part of the text. But they are as close as you can get without the insert being specifically designed for your planner size.
